My instructor at the Medill-Northwestern Journalism Institute marks all of his students' work with green pen because green is the color of hope. He says that he has hope for our writing and we should too. As I edit articles, I keep in mind the potential of every story, envisioning what it can become and apply the necessary edits and suggestions to help staff writers and other editors produce the best work they can. From the first rough draft of an article to streams of 11 x 17 copies of page layouts, my eyes are continuously examining all of the facets of my publication's work.
